It’s March… 5 things to celebrate!!

Over here in Michigan and it was literally 60 degrees yesterday and today we have a winter storm warning, expecting 5-9 inches of snow. So, I go to my computer and google “things to celebrate in March?” and was overwhelmed with the different days dedicated to traditional holidays as well as downright hilarious things! In this post I have compiled  5 of my favorites with some ideas on how to involve the kids!



1.    March 1- National Peanut Butter Lovers Day
My family is fortunate in that none of us have peanut butter allergies, so we’ll grab our jar of JIF Creamy Peanut butter! Wow Butter is the best alternative we have tasted for those that have family members with nut allergies. Take the night off dinner planning and make your favorite sandwich!
2.    March 3- National Anthem Day

Tax Time for New Home Buyers

It’s Tax Season!
Okay, so you just purchased your first home, and now it’s tax season. Is there anything you should know about?
Of course! Taxes can be confusing, and with any investment or asset purchase, there is a lot of new things to take into consideration when filing your taxes.




Mortgage Interest



This is the largest tax break for most people, and your lender will send you a Form 1098 stating how much interest you paid in the previous year. What if your lender didn’t include it on the form? Don’t fret, you can still write it off!







Points



Usually a charge that is a percentage of your loan amount, and if your loan matches certain criteria the points you paid are deductible! And believe it or not, you get to deduct the points even if you convinced the seller to pay them for you as part of the deal.







Property Taxes



Yes, those local property taxes are deductible too! ...
